NEW ORIGINAL PAINTINGS BY KATE GREEN
This is a page with studio pricing for my recent paintings that have not yet been shown publicly.
Prices and painting descriptions are below as you scroll down.
These prices are what I ask for if I am selling privately from my studio, before exhibiting the painting elsewhere.
Once a work is exhibited publicly, it is only fair and ethical to the galleries and art shows to keep the painting at the post exhibit price point - so they do increase at that time.
As soon as a painting is at an art show or put in a gallery, the artist must consider, and then add, the additional cost incurred by selling a painting in either of those ways. A gallery will take a 50% commission on the sale of a painting, and art show charge fees and demand the time of the artist to exhibit the work. This substantially increases the cost of a painting.
It is an amazing feeling and honour to sell a painting - especially privately to someone who you know that has shown an interest in your work. If there is a painting you really like, I would much prefer that you can buy it at a lower price before I have to hike the prices due to the extra expense of exhibiting.
I hope you see a piece you would like to have in your home to enjoy.
Please contact me if you have any questions or to arrange to purchase a painting either
by email email@example.com, or by phone 613-899-6947.
Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement!
(Some of the works I can have framed for you and the additional cost is noted. Others are GALLERY DEPTH canvases and do not need to be framed. There is an image of the type of frame I use at the bottom of the images of photos - it is a black float frame.
If you need the painting to be shipped to you, please get in touch with your shipping destination and I will let you know what the shipping cost would be).
Paintings in order of most recently completed
Nocturne - Mixed Media on Canvas - 14" h x 18" w
unframed - $475 (framed - $525)
This painting is of the extraordinarily beautiful Grand Place in Brussels. We were visiting friends in Belgium and they took us here one evening. The magic and ethereal quality of the square literally took my breath away and I was rendered speechless. I have used a combination of watercolour, acrylics and acrylic mediums to do my best to recreate the incredible atmosphere and haunting beauty we experienced while we were there.
Serenity - Oil on Canvas - 24" h x 12" w
unframed - $600 (framed $650)
I found it very difficult to title this painting and I am still not sure I have it exactly right. I can't seem to find the way to express what I was trying to capture - that quiet, solitude when you are waiting for a flight early in the morning. Though that time is forced upon you, it usually turns out to be so wonderful. I stumbled upon this girl sitting alone at Toronto airport when we were waiting for a very early flight to Panama. The light and the peace was so calming. I loved everything about the time and place - and I felt she captured the feeling one has when travelling - all the expectations, hopes and occasional trepidations.
Secrets - Oil on Canvas - 20" h x 16" w
unframed - $650 (framed $700)
I was up high looking down on this place and was struck by the gentle palette and striking shadows, which led to a feeling of hidden emotions and unspoken words. Discovered while exploring New York City, I was fascinated by the people inhabiting this vast and quiet, contemplative place.
Sheep - Oil on Canvas - 16" h x 12" w
unframed - $400 (framed $450)
As you can probably see by my many portraits of farm animals, I love them. I find them amusing and beautiful and always make me wonder what they are thinking about us. I met this handsome character at The Royal Winter Fair in Toronto.
Captured Sand - Oil on Board- 10" h x 10" w
unframed - $150 (framed n/a - 1.5" depth canvas)
There is a stream that runs by our house and when the temperature lowers to the point that the top water freezes, but the water below the ice runs - the patterns and light are mesmerizing. This is a small oil study of that perfect moment in time.
