BEGINNERS PLUS/ INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
4 WEEK COURSE
STARTING A PAINTING FROM SCRATCH
The Process of A Painting
ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED
Saturdays, 10 am - 1 pm
MAY 4, 11, 18 and 25
or
OCTOBER 5, 12, 19, and 26
$335 +HST
(Adults only - 19+)
This 4 week course is geared to Beginner Plus/Intermediate painters. It is the perfect follow up after my Beginner Painting course. (You should understand tonal values, saturated and desaturated colours, and know how to colour mix to take this class. If these are areas you haven't learned yet, please take Beginner Painting first).
This course will benefit new painters, and painters who may have painted for a while but would like to go through the process that I use when I paint, but it is not for absolute beginners. It is a great opportunity for painters who paint in either acrylic or oil, but would like to use the medium they don't know, without a huge investment. (Example - you are an acrylic painter who always wanted to try oil or vice a versa!)
You will be working on a realistic painting in your choice of oil paint or acrylic, starting with a blank canvas, and using your own reference photo.
(Kate can supply a reference photo for you if you prefer).
You will learn how to:
- Evaluate what will make a good painting, considering composition and values
- simplify a reference image
- transfer an image by squaring up
- block in
- use colour balance and harmony
- create proper tonal values
- layer
- glaze
- finalize a painting with detail work
All materials provided
- so no investment on your part for expensive art supplies
Small class size
- so you can get the attention you need.
