March 6th, 13th, 20th and April 3rd (no class on March 27th due to Easter)

If you are excited to learn how to paint, but have no idea how to start - or - if you have been trying to paint and you find your paintings look flat, and your colours seem all wrong - this is the course for you!
You will be painting in Acrylics and Oils so you will be able to feel out both of these amazing mediums and see which one suits you best.
For absolute beginners and beginners who have already started on their painting journey but feel stumped and frustrated. Learning the fundamentals of painting is critical. Without understanding tonal values and how to correctly mix colours, beginner art students don't know why their paintings aren’t working, are flat, too brightly coloured and why they can't create the colours they want. This course teaches you the key fundamentals so you can progress with your art on the right path.
For this course, you do not need to know anything about painting or how to draw, you can be an absolute beginner. If you have already taken beginner courses but feel really stuck , you may not have been taught the basics which you desperately need - this course will help you.
We begin with tonal value, image simplification and colour mixing exercises.
We then move on to creating 2 small paintings. In these painting practices, we will be looking not only at accurate colour mixing and tonal value importance, but also at how to see shapes. In Part B the painting you will be working on is your choice and you will be using all the fundamentals you have learned previously to paint this piece. I hope you will take both parts to get the full course but each can be taken separately (IF YOU ARE A TOTAL BEGINNER DO NOT SKIP TO PART B, TAKE PART A).
