LEARNING TO PAINT AND DRAW FUNDAMENTALS

 BEGINNER PAINTING

If you are excited to learn how to paint, but have no idea how to start - or - if you have been trying to paint and you find your paintings look flat, and your colours seem all wrong - this is the course for you! This course also gives you the opportunity to paint with both acrylics and oils!

Absolute beginners, and beginners who have already started on their painting journey but feel stumped and frustrated, will benefit immensely from this four week course. Learning the fundamentals of painting is critical. Without understanding tonal values and how to correctly mix colours, beginner art students don't know why their paintings aren’t working and they can't create the colours they want. This course teaches you the key fundamentals so you can progress with your art on the right path. You will be working in acrylics and oils so you will be able to feel out both of these amazing mediums and see which one suits you best.

From blank canvas to finished painting. Your choice of painting in acrylic or oil paint to learn the medium that suits you.

This 5 week course is geared to Beginner Plus/Intermediate painters. It is the follow up course to Beginner Painting Level One, but can also be taken by those of you with the equivalent experience learned in Level One. (You don't have to be perfect at these things, but you should have knowledge and understanding of colour mixing, tonal values, and shapes). This is also a great class to take if you are an artist who would like to try oil or acrylic paint, but do not want to invest until you see if you like the new medium.
You will be working on a realistic painting in your choice of oil paint or acrylic, starting with a blank canvas, and using your own reference photo (or one supplied by Kate if easier).

INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING

The magic of learning to draw. This drawing course can be taken by absolute beginners, or those of you who can already draw, but want to brush up on your drawing skills.

The more you practice drawing, the better you get. This class is open to anyone who has a basic knowledge of how to draw, and for all of you who took Level One and would like to practice what you learned .
