Sometimes we have beautiful photos or text we would like to have in our paintings. And, as each type of paint creates different effects, we often want them on the same canvas. Due to the way paints react to each other, certain steps and methods must be taken to achieve this.
You will learn about:
- how to use photographic reference that blends into and enhances your paintings
- creating photo transfers
- the correct way to apply paints on or with a different type of paint
- the use of grounds to accept different media
- various acrylic mediums that can develop a "look" you were hoping to achieve in your work
You will be using:
Watercolour, Acrylic and Oil paint
Gesso, Absorbent Ground, Matte and Gloss Medium Gels
Students will choose a subject of their choice and create a 12" x 16" painting on canvas to explore these techniques. They will also create a small practice 8" x 10" painting experiment. All supplies are provided except photocopies of the photographic references that students will be using in their piece. Kate will explain exactly what you need for these before the course begins.
